About Us

My Story

My real name is Richard Wilson!

After school I studied Chemistry at Edinburgh University, this was fantastic timing as the University had just opened a new suite of chemistry laboratories where I was able to pursue my interests and hone my practical skills. After completing my MChem I spent a year travelling before beginning my PGCE at the University of York. I have had a keen interest in science from a very young age and my favourite aspect of it has always been carrying out experiments and other practical work. I developed something of a reputation for making loud bangs!

I got my first teaching post at a small rural secondary school in County Durham and worked there for 11 years. It was here that I earned the nickname ‘Captain Chemistry’. I really enjoyed the relationships I built with students, staff and the local community. I also met my wife, Lucy. We married in 2010 and now have 2 budding science students (Lucy calls them our ‘daughters’) of our own!

I have now started my own business offering Science Workshops to Primary Schools in the North East of England. I have tailored each workshop to engage students, meet the needs of teaching staff and above all promote a love of science. I hope that you find something here that interests you and I look forward to working with you and your students.
